Off Campus Access

  • Galileo

    Galileo's databases are limited to currently enrolled students and currently employed faculty and staff by password. Savannah State University students, faculty, and staff may obtain a password for off-campus access to Galileo from GIL by following the steps listed below:
    1. Connect to GIL at http://gil.savstate.edu
    2. Choose the link labeled "Your Account"
    3. Type your SSU identification number or your social security number in the appropriate box. To use your social security number, use the pull-down menu and select social security number. If you use your SSU barcode or social security number and you cannot access your account information, contact the Circulation Department to make sure you are in the library management system.
    4. Enter you last name in the box provided.
    5. Click "Logon" to get to your account information.
    6. On the "Your Account" screen that lists your account information, click the "Request" button at the top of the screen.
    7. Choose "Galileo Password" from the drop-down menu and click "ok."
  • The Galileo passwords are changed every semester.

    According to the University System of Georgia, currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff should not supply their password to any other person. Passwords cannot be e-mailed to faculty, students, or library patrons by GALILEO. Passwords should not be posted on open web sites, printed in newsletters or postcards, or given out over the phone.
  • Off Campus Access to Non Galileo Databases

    The following non Galileo databases may be accessed from off campus by using ssulibrary as the username when prompted, the password for off campus access will be the current Galileo password.
