Library instruction is available to any class offered at Savannah State University. It includes use of GALILEO, the public online catalog; electronic indexes to periodicals and government documents; Internet access as well as World Wide Web searching; and newspaper electronic indexes. Students are taught how to access this information and how to evaluate their findings.
Asa H. Gordon Library's instruction course follows the Model Statement of Objectives for Academic Bibliographic Instruction and adheres to the Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education established by the Association of College and Research Libraries.
Library staff will need two (2) weeks notification to schedule library instruction for a course.
Subject Specific Instruction is scheduled with the Library liaison for faculty members. Faculty should include appropriate assignments or objectives for instruction.
